If not OPPO then what?

I don't post here much, but I read here much.

So, I have my OPPO 105D and the sheer simplicity is really what I like. I'm also happy with how it sounds. My son plays this system and having less parts is better. Also, I really have become lazy dealing with lots of components.

So....What if I wanted a Universal Player that does all the things my OPPO does but is "much better". What are my choices?

Note: I use it to watch videos only about 10% of the time. Enough to need video play.

Yup, that’s a good one.

OK. Thx. I'll read up.

So I guess the more expensive brands bailed on the Universal Player Idea?

I mean the DAC with computer control and remote....its addicting.

Thanks for the help.

Your 105D is worth more today than a new 105 because it can rip SACDs... Research that.

I recommend a used Oppo 205. But Keep the 105 to rip your SACDs (that’s what I did).

jwc 03-10-2019 12:04 AM

Holy smokes. SACD rip. Is there a tutorial or thread on that?

Yes on another forum. Google it using Audiophile and Style... It’s in their software subforum. You can also search here on AA for posts on how to do it.

In the end, it is pretty easy.

Yes, that is why I got a 103D as well, worth gold and you can also stream. If you can
find a UDP-205 you're good.
