Very nice, thanks for posting! :ok:

Volks 10-18-2014 10:36 AM

Interesting Combo :)

telematic 10-22-2014 05:43 AM

I added the Trinnov optimizer because of bad sound of Westlake Audio speakers.
It's work is amazing!
Very clear sound, a lot of air!

Here is the FR graph.
Before and After.

That is one heck of an improvement! Do you have a composite FR graph?

Sorry, I don't know, what is the "composite" FR graph.

I have Phase Response graph, Impulse Response and Group Delay graphs.
And another one - FR graph with room response.
I will post it bit later.

telematic 10-23-2014 12:55 AM

Phase.

FR with room response.

Maybe I am just confused. Your graphs look like they plot the speakers individually. I was wondering if there was a FR graph of them playing at the same time.

chessman 10-23-2014 01:00 AM

Our posts crossed. That FR with room response looks fabulous!!

OK, I see!

I think, it's impossible, because Trinnov optimizer makes the measurements only with one loudspeaker at one moment.
One by one. Left then right.

You mean "before" or "after"? :-)

chessman 10-23-2014 01:04 AM

The "after" is what looks so good. :D

Yes, it is a wonderful device!
And I was shocked by Westlake Audio speakers FR.
It's terrible.

telematic 01-03-2015 02:36 AM

I have the new tube gear in my system!

Remember the frequency response you likely actually tested was of your room, not your speakers unless you had the microphone very close to them.

If you want to 'play', disconnect or bypass your optimizer's correction and then try moving your speakers, measuring, moving your listening position and measuring etc. You MAY find an even better place for bass and eliminate that nasty null. That will demonstrate my point that you were measuring your room's response to the locations of your speakers and of the mic.

Then let your optimizer do the final tweaks.

Anyway, nice system and have fun with the optimizer!

Craig

I did it for a long time. No result.

Thank you very much!:music:

As for the Trinnov, I think about upgrading to Amethyst model. It has IR remote, knobs and display, and network renderer on board.

Just added T+A Music Player Balanced to my system.

Do you have any updated system pics? Just asking because the pics in your first post don't seem to be working anymore.

Also, how do you like the Westlake Audio speakers compared to the Legacy or JBL's?

You can see the part of my system above. I will post a picture of a whole sysem bit later.

What is about the loudspeakers - Westlake Audio speakers without Trinnov sound like this

http://www.balama.ru/megafon_ER-66S.gif

They have exellent cabinets and perfect drivers and woofers. But something strange with crossover filters. It's terribe. No bass, no treble, only dirty midrange.
But Trinnov makes some kind of magic. The result sound is very impressive!
I like bass especially. And sometimes it seemed that singer sings in my room live! Very realistic sound.

JBL 4365 are the wnners in price/sound quality contest. As far as I know, Americans use a word "bargain".
4365 don't need any roomcorrectors and high current power amplifiers. They are detailed but have not such good bass as Westlake Audio speakers.

Legacy Audio also are good speakers, have very very good HF with their AMT twitters. A lot of "air' and transparency.
But bass is humming sometimes. Also Legacy have not impressive, I don't know exact term in English, the size of a music image. The scale?

And I have another one rig with a Casta Acoustic bookshelf speakers. They are fantastic!!!
I highly recommend Casta Model A speakers to everyone!
They are not cheap, but it worth money spended.

chops-tube 04-19-2015 10:22 AM

I find that odd about the Westlake's. From their specs and reputation, I would think they would have a wonderful fullrange sound all on their own with no help.

I really like those little Casta Model A's. The mid-woofer reminds me of the old Altec 416 woofers with the vent screen on the dust cap.

Me too.
Especially after paying about $70K for these speakers. :confused-29:

Their reputation is "sell and forget"

I think that for this price they should send someone from local distributor to check the speakers.

But I only received useless advice - "move the speakers", "change the cables"

chops-tube 04-19-2015 11:59 PM

Wow. What a shame.

I guess they're too busy catering to the big recording/mastering studio crowd and don't want to be bothered with the "average" Joe Schmoe and their home systems. Who knows...

Maybe you are right.

But this is the part of a reputation.

Please forgive my rudeness but did you try a carpet or a rug on the floor? Treated or not with Trinnov or not that room looks terribly... empty!
