RPM Measurement App

Was searching for platter speed measurement tips online, but came across information about using cell phone apps to calculate RPM.

Downloaded a free app from app store, then paid $5 to enable some "advanced" settings. After 1 minute, I own a very good tool :)

Tested my 3 turntables, and got 32.8, 33.5 and 33.4. They all confirm to what I hear. Pretty amazed about what a cell phone can do on turntables, except for bubble level.

Interesting! By the way there are bubble level apps as well (not sure how good they are though).

Agree, that’s a great and accurate app but unfortunately, it’s only available for Android only, but if you have Apple iPhone, use the app called RPM.

Good point.
I also use a Android app called Strobe with a rpm Matt from Project.

Cool stuff. I just downloaded the free RPM The Turntable Tester App from the App Store. Tested it on my Technics SL 1210 Mk. V.

It tested at 33.38 rpm and 45.07 rpm. Not bad at all.

I forgot the wow and flutter measurement. :redface-oops-6:

Can't test the E-Flat yet. All the equipment is unplugged while I wait for a line of heavy weather to roll through. Should be here any minute.

Yes, RPM is also the one I am using on iPhone. I don't have an Android phone, so not sure what good features RPM Calculator has on Android.

The small app can automatically calibrate, and measure wow/flutter. Here is the result of one of my tables. Apparently the wow/flutter is too high, I believe that's due to the fact that the table is even not leveled yet... Still waiting for the delivery of a timbernation isolation platform.
