Greetings from Oregon
Greetings to all!
I'm a retired biologist and a music lover here in rainy Portland, Oregon. My basement listening room is dimensionally challenged (roughly 13 x 20 x 7 ft) but extremely quiet. I use extensive acoustic treatment and DSP to get very smooth frequency response, extended bass, and reasonable decay times in the room. Though I still dream of a larger room with 12-foot ceiling, the sound in this one is excellent.
The system is entirely digital, using home-network streaming in the main system and a USB DAC in the computer system. Both systems use digital crossovers to subs.
I've picked various pieces of equipment to suit my tastes and requirements. Nothing matches!
My musical tastes are mainly classical and jazz, though I'm enjoying American traditional music (e.g., Norman Blake) more and more. I am addicted to the 50%-off daily downloads at eClassical.
It is great to find a forum where users offer respect to one another and a civilized atmosphere prevails!
