It was better than I anticipated from the trailers. I did enjoy it.

Not up to the level of either Das Boot or Crimson Tide.

Jack, I too served on these boats during the last phase of the Cold War.

Jim, Das and Crimson are also good, with scales topping to Das

I agree . Das Boot should be included in any top five war movie list.

Agreed. I also enjoyed The Hunt For Red October and U571.

I served on two of the old WWII diesel boats from 1968 to 1970 and then on one of the new Benjamin Franklin class from 1970 to 1971.

Complete respect, I was on fast attacks, somehow got on all 3 classes at the time.

There were 2 diesel boats left out of San Diego that we’re getting ready for decom when I was there from 87-92 followed by Pearl 92-93.

My neighbor George was on Diesels, god love him, he has since moved and should be under earth by now. Self made after the Navy, but a die hard. F bombs every sentence, no filter cigarettes, coffee and booze with “Diesel Boats Forever” tattooed on his arm.

I was stationed in Key West when I served on the diesel boats. Then out of Scotland for the time on the nuclear boat. We had two crews so the duty wasn't bad. Three months on and three months off.
