Hey Heath...great to "meet" up with you again! You are correct I was/am a member over at LH forums but I haven't spent very much time there in a good while. My handle there was (is) pmakres1.
I find your post and comparisons of the L220 and S9800 very intriguing. I've been drooling over the latest K2S9900 for some time now, but have never had an opportunity to hear them, and wouldn't be able to afford them anyway. It's nice to chat with another L220 owner who obviously still appreciates how much was done right in the design of the L220 (IMHO). The waveguide, the elliptical ring radiator, the recessing of the drivers behind the baffle, together with the LE14/PR15 were all great and very effective concepts. I've kept mine in tip-top shape and have them augmented with a B460 sub. I can suffer along with this combo indefinitely! Great to see you here, and keep the posts coming! Pete |
JBL 44xx Studio Monitors
Please count me in.
JBL 4435s with MC501s and JBL 4430s with 2 x MC2102s. Wouldn't ever consider any other speaker brand. :D |

Nice to be here! I must say that your speakers are the ones that would love to hear / own. Especially when combined with the b460. But these are so rare in Europe... Last time I spotted a pair for sale in Italy for 3.500 euros!!! I am seriously considering a nice used pair of K2 5500s Any opinions of what should I expect sonically VS my 4435s? George |

As to what you can expect sonically with the K2 S5500 vs. the 4435, I'm not qualified to answer as I've heard neither system. However I do know that the 4435 was a very successful monitor for JBL, and judging from its appearance and driver compliment, I'm sure it's an awesome performer. I have heard good things about it from members of Lansing Heritage forums. The K2S5500 is a completely different configuration, more of a tower design; I think you'd really need to audition it and see what you think. If floor space is a consideration, I'd think the K2 S5500 would certainly be worthy of consideration. Lots of information on both systems can be found in the JBL Library at Lansing Heritage forums. Good luck! Pete |
