The World Is Sick of Switching Clocks

"These days, it’s tough to get the world to agree on just about anything: From countless military conflicts over strategic territory to trade wars rooted in years-long grievances, consensus in the 21st-century world seems hard to find.

Enter daylight saving time."

"One by one, countries across the world are increasingly moving away from the habit first introduced in Germany a century ago.

Daylight saving might even be messing with your money. In recent research, University of Glasgow finance expert Antonios Siganos found that stock markets are more volatile the day after the change, thanks to increased risk-taking by poorly rested traders — even if they’re qualified and experienced."

_____________I read recently that CA is moving to end it, but didn't complete the process in time to join other laws by January 1st.

My wife's grandfather, a staunch Republican farmer, referred to daylight savings time as 'Democrat Time,' to standard time as 'God's Time.'

..............and the sun would rise in San Francisco in the winter — at about 8:20 a.m. :icon_thumbsdown:

Your kids will wake up and go to school in the dark. :icon_thumbsdown:

Geez...kids going to school in the dark. I wonder how we survived on standard time for thousands of years!

I want to keep Daylight Time as is. Without it the sun rise and sunset makes no sense.

no worries about switching clocks, the majority of mine are atomic.

Let’s just copy China, a country that is about the same size as the continental US.

They have one time zone - Beijing Standard Time. This means that when it's 6 o’clock in the nation's capital, it’s 6 o’clock 3,000 miles further west in Urumqi. So if you live in Urumqi you would enjoy a beautiful summer sunset ... at midnight. In winter, the sunrise would be around 10 AM.

I don’t see a problem with this - it would just mean opening and closing times for schools, stores, banks, etc would be different. 10:00A would always be 10:00A.

Love to see that battle in Congress between the left coast and the right coast on who gets to set the time.
