RCA or XLR

I have a C-3850 and the A-70 amp. Currently running a 5M Accuphase XLR cable between them. The common theory is XLR is best longer runs. Has anyone run 5-7 meter RCA between the Preamp and Amp with good results. Since Accuphase is a true balanced circuit, it seems XLR is the way to.
