Granted they don't knock me over in the looks department, but their sound sure does.

I actually spent quite a bit of time listening to the B80's during the Cape Experience..and I rather enjoyed them quite a bit. In fact, comparing the Burmester system and the Bryston, SF system in the same room at Ivan's place, I kept returning to the Burmester... I would have loved to hear a head to head between the B80, and the SF... On the Burmester...that would have been quite phenomenal... I can only surmise the the B100, must be quite, ear opening.......

Work him in slowly, Ivan. He's new here!

:laughin: I won't deny it, but in a pinch if I had to choose between the B80 and say the Elipsa SE?..... I'd have to go with SF...:thumbsup:

The B100 togheter with reference line electronics was the system that got me interested in hifi, sounds amazing in a good setup. I have also heard them sound not so good in a bad setup.

I have heard their speakers on many occasions, and for my taste, they just don't live up to the hype or price tag like their other hardware does.

Ivan, when I heard them at the Cape Experience, I had a similar reaction to what Cyril described. Not saying they are bad, just not my cup of tea.

+1

I agree with you Randy. Nothing wrong, just not right for me.

I've heard just about everything Burmester has to offer, and all I can say is AWESOME! Never heard SS sound like that before. Very Very tube like sounding, really cannont say anything was lacking in sound. Yes, the speakers are great, but for the price you can do better.

A dear friend choiced the Burmester B100's after compared it side by side with Acapella Triolon Exalibur, MBL 101, Taoc Top, Magico Q5, Kharma Exquisite Midi, Wilson Maxx-3, Magneplanar 20.1. The system is a "Full Burmester Reference Line".
The sound is outstanding with all of mentioned speakers, but with B100, that I listened many times, the sound has an impressive natural dimension, body and sense of life unique.

A definitive loudspeaker.

It's my target speaker.
