My 30 y/o table just wasn't old enough...

So... I bought one that is 53 years old. Older than me by 8-9 years.

To say that this is a life long, statement acquisition would be a HUGE understatement. I never dreamed that I would be able to own a record player like this.

The first time that I saw a Garrard, the first time that I heard a Shindo, I knew that I would have to own one someday.

To me, this old Transcription Record Player is an heirloom...

I have wanted one of these tables for as long as I can remember. I cannot remember not wanting one.

I now own 4 turntables, including my first one, bought at 15 with my paper route money. It is a JVC QL-50 Direct Drive with an ADC Black Widow tone arm. Awesome table. I still love it.

Well, here is my new (old) table. A full blown Shindo / Garrard 301 Player System.

Thanks to Matt at Pitch Perfect Audio for the photo and for the delivery and expert set up of this fine old machine.

When Matt took off his Omega AND his wedding ring... I knew that things were going to get serious.

I bought this table because it sounds like music to me... like nothing else that I have ever heard... at any price.

The sound??? There is just nothing else like it. Music, drive, tone, it's BIG!!!

In case you are interested, here are some reviews. I read none of these reviews prior to purchase... my purchase was based on hearing one and nothing else.

6moons audio reviews: Garrard 301 Restoration Project

Lastly, I want to thank all of my friends here who have been a part of my audio journey since I started out with that lovely MA6200... A fine instrument of music in itself...

I have very been lucky to travel down the paths that I have. I am very grateful.

Thank you.

Stephen

Thank you Robert....

Just so you know... your TT was the closest contender...

A wonderful work of engineering and art....

It was a close race.

Stephen.....wow. Believe me, I remember Garrard from back in the day....my first "good" turntable was a Garrard, as a lad of 13 I couldn't afford a really high end Garrard. This is a beauty!!! A hearty congratulations....I'm sure you're going to have a lot of fun with this.

Stephen....congrats on the 301! Beautiful table. I am assuming you are mounting your EMT cart on that baby. Like Robert said, I hope you enjoy it for a very long time in good health. May it bring endless hours of musical nirvana
