The top five Chinese made audio companies today?
Just wondering what everyone thinks now. China can and do make some very nice audio gear. What company do you think is making quality amps, preamps, dacs and other audio stuff at great prices? Chinese designed or designed outside China, but made there?
My choice is NOT in order. Prima Luna, Line Magnetic Audio, Grant Fidelity, Dussun, Opera. What are your picks? |
BMC audio is designed in Germany and made in China.

And now MBL:D |
Similar story.
Sonus Faber, Krell, B&W, Classe, MBL - they all make their entry level stuff in China now. In case of MBL, the boards for their budget line - the 14 series - are made in China. All middle and upper end models, inluding the 15/16 series and Corona line are made in Germany. They have quite a big factory just outside Berlin. |
Have both Opera Consonance and Line Magnetic kit great build quality and sound.
These guys are coming big time. |
WOW! I did not know so many companies are making in China. Guess I should have known, since everyone is trying to save costs.
|
oros... Welcome!

Lawrence audio speakers designed and made in China and Melody electronics made in China and isn't Auralic made and designed in China.
|
I know the Aerial Acoustics 7T speaker cabinet is made in China, and final assembly done in the states. The cabinet is gorgeous. This $10k speaker would probably cost $15-$20k if everything was done here.
I read the other day the British company, Cambridge-Audio, has their gear designed in England, and built in China. |
For the money Audiolab seems like a decent made in China brand
|
Quad.
AMR. |
I think Triode Corporation amps are designed in Japan and made in China by Line Magnetic Audio.
|
Don't forget Cayin !
|
Is McIntosh still made in China? :D. NOT.
|
Macs are really nice. I would love to own a stack. But the Macs are expensive, too much so for my wallet. I heard Mac amp-preamp driving some Magnepan 1.7's. Very nice indeed!
|
puresound make some of the best pre amps and made in china designed in uk
|
I try to still buy made in USA but it's tough. I took a gamble and bought a YBA WD202 dac, designed in France, made in China. Guess what ? It's a great DAC for the money, build quality is excellent , metal remote, remote volume and source selection, USB, balanced in and outs, and can double as a preamp. I bought it more for convenience and casual listening but I find myself listening to it often.

Mingda amps are very well received in Australia. But I don't see it mentioned much here.
|
Bada, Doge, Jolida, Meixing, Musical Paradise - excellent tube gear...
|
I think Jolida and Grant Fidelity have a strong following. Customer service and quality of this gear... any owners want to comment?
|
I think Consonance is made in China. I have Consonance M 15 speakers. Anyone who would like to comment? I always wondered how they compare to Kliphhorns or to other speakers in general

I would say that Apple is the largest audio company in China
Pretty sure I'd be right |
sorry,
more simple say what's not china!!!! ALL brand have inside a china piece = are china gears? Style |
I had a jolida cd player. After tube rolling and a better power cord, it was one of the best sounding redbook players i have owned. Only reason why I replaced it was sacd. Most sacd players I tried the jolida still sounded better! It wasn't till I found a cayin scd-50t with proper tubes that sacd now would sound better then the jolida did on redbook. I went through 5-7 different sacd players trying to have it sound better then the jolida did.

You would be amazed on the amount of formerly Made in USA, UK, Germany brands
It's quite embaressing they still market as authentic. The ones to my knowledge still USA made: BAT, CAT, CJ, Mac, Wilson, ARC, Atma-Sphere, Joule.. |
Interesting comment on the Audio companies still making stuff in the USA. Something odd and funny happened when I went out to audition and buy a integrated tube amp. My dealer had an ARC unit that sounded very good, but he also had the Chinese made integrated Line Magnetic Audio amp that cost about 1/2 the price of the ARC. Both were made well and sounded great. The remote for the LM audio was robust and made from solid aluminum, the one from ARC was cheap and had a made in china sticker on the bottom. I had laugh...

Which Pass Labs products are made in China? |
All are, it's big business, wages in china are ridiculous low.
You wouldn't believe the meega factories there who produce the formerly 'proudly made in usa' gears. |
