I heard from my neighbour’s wife..

Who heard from her second cousin, twice removed; who heard from her brother in law, who heard it from his nephew’s future sister-in-law; who heard it from her friend, who works for Audio Research…

That soon they are coming out with new models of power amps with all auto biasing circuits. So it seems look and feel of Ref.150 will remain, without having the need for a Fluke meter. There will not be need for meters on likes of GS150 and Ref. 75.

No wonder I got a good deal on GS150!

Awesome... I hope it's true!

It will be just like the newly introduced VT80 . W/ auto / self biasing even if you used different types of output tubes ( 6550, KT88, KT 120 & KT 150 ) and instead of resistors blowing up when a tube arcs each output tube has their own fuse just like the old Jadis amps .Probably because of the recent availability of better quality fuses . Because I remember before they use resistors instead of fuses because they sound better. First time tube amp owners won't be no longer intimidated.

I've been waiting for the new REF series, hopefully with some visible tubes like VT80 or VS115, or even the GS150. I've always had a jones for a pair of ARC REF monos, hopefully the day is coming. I'd have sprung for REF250s, but then came the SE versions about the time of GS150.

Hopefully, with so many ARC lifetime employees gone, and the new ownership, the next REF series will be better and not just different from current designs.

Am I the only one that thinks the title of this thread sounds like the opening line to a letter of a certain "adult" magazine?

"I had pretty much resigned myself to another night reading your magazine when I heard a knock on the door. There was my neighbor's wife, with two of the biggest, most mouth-watering KT-150s I've ever seen."

More from the same source:

In next 2 years these so called KT150 tubes will have LED’s in them. Since diodes already have cathodes and anodes, it was easy for the engineers to replace those heat generating filaments with LEDS.

So we will still be able to replace these “LED Tubes” with traditional tubes if we want.

How ever the next generation will eliminate the “LED Tubes” altogether. Instead of having LEDS in the glass bottle, they all will be surface mounted.
