Considering adding a sub

I've never had a sub so I'd appreciate your advice. I listen to 2 channel for music 95% and movies 5%. I've got Revel F52's so I'm considering a single Revel B15a for synergy.
First post..... nice place.

First post..... nice place.

I've had a sub (Vandersteen mains + sub) for many years and it is well worth the investment. Nothing like complete bass reproduction to make it all more enjoyable.

Welcome to AA< I found this community yesterday and am glad I did.

Audition JL Audio subs; many of us here have them. I personally rate them "Best in Class".

I second the JL Audio Fathom suggestion. Using 2 F112s myself. Extremely fast, capable and musical sub. They have transformed my system to something indescribable. It would be unrealistic to achieve the same performance with a full range speaker capable of the same musical and deep bass in a room my size of 14x17.

WPines, you made it over. Welcome.

How about Velodyne Subs.

Revel makes one also I think. Maybe back to Take 5 for another demo. :D

Hello Chuck! Thanks for leading me here. Call me when you can meet me with those tubes (no hurry, no worry).
Sub question..... Are 2 subs neccesary? Does a single sub sound "bad" or "boomy" or does it not integrate well for 2.1 music listening?

One sub is fine, especially when set up correctly. Two subs are even better!

So generally speaking, spending more money on one larger/higher quality sub is a better strategy to start out with?
One F113 instead of 2 F110's?
