It's official...Salon 2's have shipped and they are heading my way. Finally a good reason to come home from vacation (something I usually struggle with).

Good choice on the salon2s. Can't wait to see those unboxing pics. I was so excited that I neglected to take some of mine.

I am soon to be the second most enthusiastic Salon2 fan on the forum. Can't wait to hear your impressions!:banana:

Nice to see the Halo's guts. The tidy toroidal transformer, point to point wiring and heroic capacitors look good. I'd enjoy hearing them in my system. They were one of the options I considered before settling on the 452.

I love McIntosh gear, so iconic, so well built! I am sure the pairing with your Salons is breathtaking!

I open the tops of the Halo's about once every year or so and use compressed air to get the dust bunnies out. Figured they would make for good eye candy pics :)

Good idea to clean it out. That toroid looks like a chocolate torte with an edible gold medallion!

Driving my 1 year old Revels's is my never cleaned out Integrated amp (Mark Lev No.383). Never thought of using compressed air. It's almost 10 years old so I bet there are some dust bunnies hidden in there. But - Kinda concerned it would force the dust into the wrong crevices. Anyone have any advice here? System works leave it alone or - blow it out and it will be slightly better ... Thanks

I wouldn't be concerned but if you are, drive it dirty. It will be just as fast.

I would take the top off, use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment (and any other attachments you can use to get to nooks and crannies) to suck out the bulk of the dust and then blow it out. You can use a shop vac for both purposes (reverse to blow). Never a bad idea to pull connectors and re-seat them to clean contacts either. Just be careful to not damage pins or reverse the seating. I had a bad tech mess up a power amp for me once doing that.
