GIK Makeover

I have sent pics and dimensions of my room to GIK for their professional assessment of my room. I'm going to include them here for everyone to see and together we shall see what GIK comes up with to improve the performance in my room.

Most of my current room acoustic is tube traps bought some 20 years ago. I am looking to improve performance and improve the look. I would like to create a "professional" listening room appearance, or should I say expensive looking room with me doing all the leg work to reduce the cost.

My room is very small, 10' 10" x 14' 10" x 8' but it's the best room I have to work with so.........

Looking forward to hearing if you get a response. I submitted the form and never heard back.

Perhaps something went wrong with your submission?? I already have two responses from Bryan at GIK and he had made some initial suggestions including changing my listening position. I moved my chair one foot further forward as he suggested and that has already made a big improvement in intelligibility and soundstage depth.

Which brings up the question. How far away do you guys sit from the back wall? Bryan suggested 38% of the rooms length. My first thought is I'm too close to the speakers but I can't argue with the results.

Further discussion with Bryan has resulted in moving the speakers a foot closer to the front wall as well. This has retained the same relationship of speaker to listening position distance but moved both 1 foot closer to the front wall of the room. Let's just say I'm amazed at the improvement!!! Next will be to see what room treatments they recommend.

Glad you are happy with the results!

Maybe my picture size was too large. I'll call them when I get more dimensions to share with them

Bryan from GIK has worked out a room plan for me consisting of several different changes. In the end I would be removing most all of my tube traps and replacing them with GIK soffit traps, the soffit trap works down to a much lower frequency. Replacing my home made first reflection panels (absorption panels) with GIK QRD diffusors. And replacing my home made rear wall absorbers with GIK 6A Alpha 2D panels. But retaining my current front wall diffusors, which is good since the middle two panels are removable to watch a movie on the plasma.

That sounds interesting if you are going that route, to hear if you get the things you think you will and if it will be that much better.
I just started the journey of room treatment with GIK. So i am still really curious, if you make these changes, and what they will do for you.
