Vicoustic customization, worth it?
Did anyone pay the few hundreds or so to have them analyze your room? Was it worth it?
Also briefly, when do you apply diffusers? when do you need absorption? when do you use bass traps? |
Not really answering your question but I did sign up for a room analysis through vicoustic.
My dealer really recommended it. I tried the one through gik that was free. It was helpful for sure but I suspect the vicoustic is going to be a lot more detailed. Should have it scheduled for when I get back from vacation. No idea how long it takes though. I can post back my impression if no one else does but will be a couple of weeks. Good luck! |
If you have little knowledge to answer your questions nor the patience or time to experiment, I would offer having a professional measure and 'tune' your room would be money very well spent.
Especially if it is only 'a few hundred' dollars. The experimentation will no doubt take you down lost pathways that will eat up those same funds. |
Last time I setup a room, I got two plans drawn up -- one by ASC and one by GIK. Both were interesting. It was also interesting how different the two were from one another. I definitely suggest getting professional opinions, though you may not want to follow them exactly. I also recommend getting a couple of different opinions. The total cost will be low, compared to the cost of treating a room.

In the same process (although the wife threw up her hands today and said "just build that damn room. I'm tired of all this stuff").
