C2500/C2600/C2700 Preamp Tubes
 

Quick question. I've searched through old threads and can't find the answer.

With the Mac preamps, are the phono stage tubes on when the linestage is in use (i.e. - are the tubes aging even when you aren't using that section of the preamp)?

Yes, my understanding is that all the tubes are on all the time in the C2300 and newer preamps. I owned a C2200 and that preamp turned off the phono section tubes when they were not being used.

Other users have posted here that there is a way to turn off the tubes in the phono circuit. Hopefully one of those owners will chime in
