I run a princess in my woo rig and it was a night to day upgrade guys.

Just like Randy I'm looking for a Headphone amplifier, but a dedicated one, not also DAC nor pre amplifier, not a pocket one, ultra light, just an amplifier for my headphones so I can use them for hearing my vynils. No more than that.
One restriction is the budget which is short, no more than 200 bucks. Is that posible?
Forgot to say that my headphones are a pair of Hifiman HE400i.

I've heard countless headphone amps at every price point and the absolute cheapest one that I am willing to recommend is the Schiit Lyr 2 for $449. It is well worth expanding your budget for. It sounds significantly better than amps costing less. I can't think of an amp that offers better value.

What cans have you used?

The Raptor is currently #1 in my search for a "snowbird" rig for my 3mon in FL over the winter. I like that it has two (2) inputs so can feed from both a DAC and a tuner.

Am also considering his Predator. Have to find out if I can put music from the Sony HAP-Z1ES onto a thumb-drive to feed the Predator. Ray Samuels gear gets excellent reviews in those rare times his gear actually gets reviewed. Getting your gear reviewed is the bane of small suppliers like Ray Samuels. No advertising, no reviews.

If you can afford to spend another $49 for a total of $249, the Schiit Asgard 2 is a Class A headphone amp that not only sounds fantastic for the money but will also drive your 93dB efficient HE400i with absolute ease, having 1W of headroom reserve to bring out the very best of them. Try to find something better, I doubt you will. :D With a Class A, solid state amp, you will not have to worry about tube noise and spending money on tubes. It is reliable and a smooth sounding solid state amp. :music:

I've heard every amp that Schiit makes and spent considerable time carefully comparing each model at CanJam NYC 2017. The Lyr 2 is significantly better than the Asgard 2 and is well worth spending the extra money for. The Lyr 2 offers the best value before the law of diminishing returns kicks in. Frankly, I couldn't even hear an improvement with their more expensive models.

OP stated $200 as a budget that's why I suggested the Asgard 2.

Ya, but you know what they say about audiophile budgets... Decide on a realistic budget and then triple it because that is what it is really going to end up costing...lol. One thing I have learned is that sometimes it is definitely worth holding off on a purchase in order to save more money. In the long run, it is cheaper to save and buy once than to upgrade multiple times.

PHC1, I really Appreciate you considerate my budget, hope not to go so far from it, but it's not a promise. Here in Chile there is a Schiit army too, lots of fan of that brand, I've heard some of DACs Schiit and consider it as a good option. Let's see what is on headphone amps.
