Best way to move 800 series up and down stairs.

B&W owners (and other large speaker owners) - I am preparing for some home renovations and as such, my Signature 800s will need to be moved up at least one, maybe two flights of stairs.

When I bought these beasts, I totally underestimated what 275 lb (each) speakers would be to move.

I had a very strong friend with a dolly help me downstairs the first time. It was unbelievably hard to do, awkward and extremely heavy.

I cannot imagine how heavy they will be going UP stairs.

If I had the original boxes I could imagine boxing them up and having 3-4 men would be better. I called B&W who said they don’t have replacement boxes, so that idea is out.

What do you folks do when moving giant speakers around to different levels of your house?

You could contact a piano mover. They move heavy pianos all the time.

Maybe you can find a place to rent one of these.

I researched these; the only issue (besides the crazy price) they require a much wider staircase than most residential homes have.

It's a two man job.
I moved my N801 almost a decade ago when I was in my mid forties , wrapped them in furniture blankets, used a aluminum dolly with a strap, as I pulled the dolly up the steps had a friend push and lift from the bottom as much as he could. Although is seems like going down the steps might be easier, coming back up isn't much harder.
Having said that, I don't think at this point in my life I would attempt to move them again.

For me I went with piano movers and boxed them up.

The Zonzini (made in Italy) would work well, as it isn’t too wide.

Price, a cool $18,900 :naughty:

Too bad, looks like a slick idea.
