Anterior Approach Hip Replacement

Interested in learning if anyone has had an Anterior Approach Hip Replacement. If so what led to the decision, what was your experience, what would you do differently if anything, how did you choose the surgeon, recovery, success or failure? I know this is not audio related but if it happens I expect there will be more downtime to listen more.

My wife had anterior done 3.5 months ago and is doing well. She's up and around and driving. Some pains here and there. Mostly muscle related. The surgeon said that with anterior they don't cut muscles only move them to the side. The surgeon was excellent and very thorough. He works on lots of famous athletes like Michele qwan and many others. His name is dr leisure yu of loma Linda, ca. Highly recommended.

Good luck.

Surgery Monday 6/2/14

The hip surgery is Monday afternoon. I am apprehensive but will be relieved when the pain I am experiencing is gone after surgery. I understand I will be on a few meds afterwards so may be better to stick with CDs instead of vinyl for a few days.:dazed-7:

jameslrock,

I wish you all the best for the surgery and the recovery.

BTW, a lesson learned from my knee surgery a decade ago, make sure the batteries in your remote controls are replenished beforehand!

James.......Here's wishing you good fortune with your hip surgery. My grandmother in her early 80's had hip replacement surgery on her left hip after a nasty fall. She was completely recovered in six months. She lived to be 96 with no complications or other issues with her hip. Keep us posted. We are rooting for you.

Jim... Best wishes for a good hospital stay and speedy recovery. My 88 year old mother-in-law had a similar surgery last summer and today she's out pulling weeds in the garden. She can't stand the thought of a weed competing with her prized tomato plants. This time last year we worried about taking care of her - now we're scrambling to keep up! :)

Jim... All the best for a full and complete recovery!

A bit of medical humor... :D

Appreciate the kind thoughts and encouragement. I went from running well over 20 miles a week and many rounds of golf to not being able to walk to the mailbox within just few months. I just want my life back or at least some of it. Pretty painful stuff. I will be listening to a lot of music during recovery. Will post the outcome in about a week from Monday. I hope to be encouraging to others who may someday endure the same.
