twenty.26 en route...amp selection

Hello Gents,

I've gone through the pmc amp thread and read a plenty elsewhere and have a bad case of option anxiety at the moment.

I currently have a mc452 from having downsized in speaker and I think it's a bit of overkill and I have no mac loyalty and was hoping for a few suggestions please.

I'm currently using a coaxial splitter into a AMR DP-777 so I'm open to getting a integrated if there's a value available.

Some specs:27Hz – 25kHz Impedance:8 Ohm Input Connectors:3 pairs 4mm sockets (Tri-amp or Tri-wire) sensitivity:86dB 1W 1m

As always I appreciate everyones' time, input and experience, thank you.

Adrian

If you like the MC452 with the PMCs there's no point in selling it at a loss to buy something cheaper, its high power can't hurt.

If you want to try something else just out of curiosity I'd look at the Benchmark AHB2 and Bryston 4B3, both available online with 30 days return policy.

I have the PMCs twenty 26 driven by McIntosh MA7000, very happy about them, so I think with MC452 it could be for sure better.

May I ask if you've tried anything else? The 26s will be here Saturday .

I figured 1. I could use a change. 2. PMC recommends Bryston so I'm leaning towards a 4b3.

Thanks for responding!

Try an Ayre AX5 if you can get your hands on one, my MB2's love my Ayre rig very much.

Ayre and PMC mates beautifully. These shots are from the quite recent high end show in Gothenburg, Sweden.

I have auditioned most of the integrated sunder 30K and chose the Ayre AX-5/20 like others and have never looked back. Most don't give nearly the micro and macro detail. That's where the emotion lives. The zero feedback design works great with those speakers as it wil get the most out of its bass while giving you that musically sweet and accurate mid on up that the zero feedback amps are known for.

Sorry for late reply. I have tried Musical Fidelity Nu Vista 800 and Naim Super Nait, in my opinion much better with the McIntosh

I did sell my mc452 albeit regrettably and I picked up a 4b3 on PMC recommendation unheard which I will not do again.

I'm currently auditioning a plinius sb103 which I feel doesn't just absolve me from selling said Mac but sounds better to me I'm my room with the PMCs.

I've never been this pleased.
