803D3 in a small room ?

I am seriously thinking about an upgrade from 804D2 to 803D3

Only "problem" remaining is the size of my room
12,50feet broad
15,75feet long
9 feet between speakers
speakers placed 0.5 feet from back wall
11.5feet distance from speaker to listening position
Speakers cannot be placed differently.

Anyone having experience / advice with / on 803D3 in a similar room ?

If the funds are there I would move to the 802d3. Would suit the room well.

I have similar size room only about a foot longer. I've set my 803D3 a bit further apart than you have suggested but I have added wall treatments and bass traps in back the corners. The wall treatments made a big difference in my room. Either way recommend you do the same with wall treatments and you will not be disappointed.

You should be good.

+1 on room treatments.

803D3 should be okay (and about as much as that room can handle in that speaker range) but you will need to treat the room with bass traps, etc. as noted by the above posters.

I have 802 D3 in a room smaller than that, the tweeters are only 5 feet apart.

The sound is great, all the incredible clairity, detail, and characteristics of the speakers are there.

The sound Stage fills the space completely, of course the soundstage would be bigger in a bigger room.

The Imaging is great as far as the three-dimensionality of the sound, and the separation of each instrument, but the instruments are a little bit squashed because the speakers are close together. So you won't really get the proper spacing of each individual instrument, but other than that I have to say there's not much too complain about.

And of course as mention by Fonzy, properly treating the room will be very important. I use the treatments by Acoustimac with the Owens Corning 703 insulation, very affordable, very professional looking, and they work great.

So I absolutely do not regret my decision one bit, and would definitely go with the 802 D3 if funds allow. I was very hesitant at first too, but my dealer said trust me you will not regret it, and he was 100% absolutely correct.

You may want to PM member GreginNH1. I think he had the E600 with 803D3s (or possibly even 802D3s?). Not sure about his room size. Do you think the E600 has enough power to produce solid base in the 803D3s? The B&Ws like lots of power, as you know.

Will your dealer let you demo the 803D3s at home? That's clearly the best way to know if you'll be happy with the sound.

I have a pair of 803D3 in a room of a similar size (14.5 ft x 13.5 ft). The speakers are about 8 ft apart and my listening position is about 10 ft from the speakers. I also have installed DIY wall/corner treatments to deaden the room a bit. As Madfonzy mentioned, this made a big difference. I am very satisfied with these speakers. I also considered 802D3, but its size relative to the room was not aesthetically acceptable to me since it is a living room.

I know Gregin said not enough power but I dont know which music he listens and at what volume level.
I now play max -30db when playing really hard E600-804D2.
2 seperate dealers told me E600 has no problem driving 803D3.
I will try to audition at the dealers.

Comparatively speaking, I have a pair of big Canton's in a room of very similar size. With adequate wall treatments I would expect the 803D3's to disappear in much the same way as my Canton's do.

Will your dealer offer you an in home demo?
