WOW!

This thing is going to kick major butt. That isn't even the SE and the specs look incredibly promising.

I guess it's safe to assume the 95 = the 83SE?

Perhaps I spoke too soon about the "SE" badging...

The 95 will replace the old 83SE.

I wish it was available now, I would buy one and replace my 3 year Sony Blu Ray player. The 93 is available now . The website is vague on the DAC in the 93; does anyone know if the two models have different DAC's ?

I think Santa may have to make a February encore visit.

The spec sheet for the BDP-95 gives full information about the DAC to be used (see below) while there is no description of the DAC used on the spec sheet for the BDP-93.

I can assume that the DAC in the 95 is superior to that used in the 93, as were the DACs in the earlier units ( 83SE superior to the 83)

The DAC in the BDP-95 is described as:

"SABRE32 Reference Audio DAC - The DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) is one of the most important components for digital audio playback. The SABRE32 Reference ES9018 from ESS Technology is the world’s best performing 32-bit audio DAC solution targeted for high-end consumer applications and professional studio equipment."

As for myself, I'm going to wait until February and get the BDP-95.

BDP 95 or MVP 881?

I would love to have an MVP881, (I really like my MVP871) but it boils down to pure economics - I don't play many movies, have no BluRay discs at present, and the Oppo unit is a whole lot cheaper - and, I think the BDP-95 will be a really good machine, good for both music and video.
