RMAF 2019 A.A. Show Report & Pictures
Just arrived in Denver, wanted to start our show report thread so we only have one going. A couple of us are still in the air and Steve is hanging out with the good folks at Boulder, so we’ll have some pictures and first day events later on tonight!
Here's a couple of shot of the resort looking out over the pool/lazy river area, beautiful. https://i.imgur.com/y0741HH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WOYtSc7.jpg - Buck |
Everyone arrived safe and sound in Denver, had a great first day (most of which was spent out by the pool and bar area). Steve, Rob, Tony, David and Aditya spent a few hours in Boulder, CO visiting the Boulder (electronics) manufacturer, but I'll let them tell you about that. Honestly it was hard for me to go in to the show with how nice the outdoor area is here at the Gaylord Center. They have a heated outdoor pool, indoor pool and waterslide and a heated lazy river, really a great place to relax. We did spend a couple of hours going to a few rooms but I'll save the show reporting until tomorrow evening when we get a better layout of the rooms and have more time to spend in them and snap some photos.
Here's a few pictures of the Audio Aficionado group, we met before dinner down in the lobby area (from L to R) Aditya (DocMD), David, Tony (Antonmb), Ed (For the love of music), Marc (2fastdriving), Rob (Robc33), me (audioguy3107), Steve (SL1800) and Marc (mtrot): https://i.imgur.com/oOAeWKa.jpg |
Grabbed some food at the Italian restaurant down in the lobby afterwards:

I did get a couple shots of the new Sonus Faber Olympica Nova speakers that are debuting at RMAF. I thought they sounded quite dynamic and really good, except for what seemed to me to be some "shouty", edgy vocals. But that was with the Fleetwood Mac track that they were playing, which goes back a ways, so it may have been the recording.

The Sonus Faber Electa Amator and Minima Amator. They look larger in person than I remember - beautiful finish. The Minimas are on my wish list for my second system with my Luxman SQ-N100, looking for a room where someone’s playing them today.

Sonus Faber SE17. Sound was a bit hard, not as good as it should be. We suspected setup, they were set on the long wall but at the end of the room, toed in pretty severely. One of the reps told us they had focused more effort on the Olympica Nova because it was a new release. I guess the SE17s were just there as a draw, which was a shame. We actually liked the Olympica Nova better, balanced and dynamic.

Very nice sound from Alsyvox ribbon speakers w/ Omega electronics. Nice vocals and soundstage, although bass just a bit muddy (a recurring theme in a few rooms on floor 3).
