Marantz NA7004

Wanted to share, I have been listening to the NA7004 for a few hours now and I gotta tell you, I LOVE this piece!! I've had it for over a month now and it is wonderful!

This coming from someone who is a vinyl fanatic. The experience is totally different from the glorious ritual of cleaning the needle, placing the disc on the turntable, clamping it down, etc.

Airplay (wireless streaming / free upgrade) is awesome and not only for Apple products, you can stream radio.com, iHeart Radio, Tune In, etc. Walking into the room and being able to connect my iPhone and just listen is extremely convenient and way cool!

Via Airplay, I've been going through my iTunes library - revisiting songs that I don't pay too much attention to because they are 128 Mp3s. Of course they don't sound as good as the lossless files, but totally listenable through the 7004.

Listening to songs I hadn't heard in years was soo refreshing! Have you ever heard of salsa greats like Gran Combo, Grupo Niche or Frankie Ruiz? Well, I was jamming and my wife came downstairs to dance!! Ahh yea! What music is all about!!

The 7004 can also be used as an outboard DAC. Using my Wadia and iPod classic, switching back and forth between it and my Benchmark DAC (both are 192/24 and USB 96/24). Both are excellent! The Marantz sounds warmer and richer than the Benchmark which is pretty ruthless and transparent.
Even though I do think the Benchmark is better, I could be totally happy with the Marantz! I believe it uses the same DAC as the Pearl Lite gear which isn't too shabby.

Ditto for tunes I've downloaded from HD Tracks via my Macbook pro through the USB. The NA7004 has modernized my 2 channel set up!!

Nice to hear.

I have been thinking about picking one of these up, it will match my Pearls and add some convenience that I don't have now.

Recently picked a unit up from Musicdirect.com. Great unit and half price now. Only drawback was having to run cat 5 cable to the unit for internet functions. Really nice unit with great versatility.

Pio.......It's a good looking streamer, for sure. The DAC uses the Cirrus Logic CS4398 chipset. The DAC will handle signals at sampling frequencies up to 192kHz through the co-axial and optical inputs and up to 96kHz through its USB port.

I recently exchanged a Denon DNP-720AE for the Marantz NA7004, and it has been the best move. The Denon was good to a point, but the music started to jitter, or what they call gaping. The previous owner said Marantz came out with a firmware update that included gapless music... no more jitters.

I love it for the internet radio. Over 20,000 channels to choose from, every genre of music you can think of. This is the best replacement for a tuner that will give you more choices to choose from.

I really enjoy listening to internet radio with all the variations and options. We also have a very large digital music collection. I've tried and had a number of different units and would like to give this Marantz NA7004 a try. Perhaps someone knows if you can enter and store internet radio stations using the URL? It's a lot faster than searching & saving. I've read the owners manual and searched the internet but cannot find a definitive answer - either way. Perhaps someone here might know? Thanks.

I love my NA6005. I just wish I could have gotten it in silver. It does sound excellent, whether it be internet radio, Pandora, streaming from the NAS, feeding it through JRiver, or playing DSD files via USB.

And I just ordered a WW Nova Toslink to run the TV output into it as the analog output from the TV is a bit lacking in the bass.

I am in CT and I could loan you my NA7004, if you'd like to test it. I have some other audio gear I have been using.
