My first Audio Research!

I am buying a demo unit DSPre from my local dealer. I am very excited, because I plan to build out an all ARC system eventually. I can't afford it all at once, but the plan is to use the DSPre with a Ref75, and then eventually replace the pre with a Ref5SE or whatever the latest is in a year or so. The biggest hurdle I will have in the short term is that I'm losing my phono preamp that was built into my C2300. And then I would need to get another dac if I buy the Ref5SE.

But I'm convinced that there's a lot of magic in an all ARC stack paired with Wilson speakers. :music:

Congrats, Marc! Does this mean no Alexias in the near future?

Great question. I am leaning toward no. I heard what a full ARC stack can do with my Sasha's and I think it's so good that it would be enough to satisfy me for a while.

But I've said that before. :tears:

Oh and I am probably going to give my McIntosh gear to my 16 year old, who is really into vinyl. What a lucky kid!

Read the Stereophile review of Alexia if you haven't. In the end JA concludes that if he were to retire today, Alexia would be the speaker in his listening room. It's a good review... lots of detail, not just hyperbole.

Mine just arrived yesterday. Anyway, I shouldn't tempt you anymore than you already are!

They are the finest speakers I have ever heard. Just my two cents...

They are awesome, I agree.

Marc, congrats on your REF 75. It looks like a super amp. Nice step in the ARC world !

Actually I didn't get that yet... Too much at once for me right now. I got the DSPre preamp/dac. Eventually I will get the Ref75 and separate dac, preamp, and phono. That's the long term plan. I'm going to pause after this and give some thought to how I can pull off Alexia 's. Or if it's worth it.
