Big surprise with Yamaha NS-1000

Well after close to 5 years of hunting a nice pair of Yamaha ns-100 ebony showed up locally. Due to travel and other issues it took me about 2 months to get them. The biggest surprise was the condition - wow! These are really beautiful, shiny veneer all drivers perfect and came with asset of Target stands (50lb ea).

The biggest surprise was (to me at least) how amazing they sound with either my Almarro 318b or Shindo Montille. The music I like (jazz, vocals) and the relatively low level of listening I do, was just stunning last night. I had a friend come over and he was also very impressed to say the least.

I used to have a pair of NS-1000M pair and drove them with Quicksilver Silver 70 mono blocks and used different cables. The house we used to live in was actually bigger too. The cables I use now are Auditorium A23 so that makes a difference as well as the binding posts which are upgraded Cradas on the new ebony pair.
Still I am really surprised how the Shindo Montille/Aurieges/Auditorium cables/VPI Prime sound though the speakers.
Anyone had similar experience? Maybe with some other "should not be working but it does" speakers?
