Tiger Woods Gettin' da Gopher

I thought this was pretty funny. Tiger replacing Bill Murray as Carl in Caddyshack.

Masterlu 04-21-2009 07:59 PM

Cute, he must need the money. :lmao:

His kids are expensive, for sure... :)

After yesterday's +10 at the Open, believe Tiger's "day is done". Think his only hope is a brain transplant. It's all between his ears.

audioguy3107 06-19-2015 08:19 AM

What a disaster, I'm one who also thinks he's pretty much done as well, both mind and body. He lost his mental edge first of course, and then his body failed him. Here's a great article from ESPN on his performance in the round...

This is very sad, he was invincible and at the top of everything. He never really recovered from the scandal with his ex-wife.

Golf at that level is 99% mental, once it's broken you're done. He should take a couple of years off golf, travel or do something else before staging a come-back.

JBT 06-19-2015 09:55 AM

He's trying to reconcile with his ex wife Elin Nordegren after Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn threw him over the cliff for cheating on her.

Don't mess with Lindsey Vonn that's for sure

Someone paid for a 'Cheater' banner to fly over Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open - SBNation.com

Tiger is an emotional train wreak and he is an old 40!!

The rest of the wifes were interested to see if their husband score dropped after the banner appeared :D

This is incorrect--his personal life imploded in late 2009. In 2013 he won five tournaments and returned to the world's #1 ranking.

Georges.......If Tiger would spend as much time concentrating on golf as he does on where he can bury his #1 wood he'd still be on top.

He let the small head run the big head. It's been the downfall of many a good man.

quinlanmw 06-21-2015 04:10 PM

I'm no apologist for Tiger Woods and he doesn't need me to defend him, but his three victories in 2012 and five in 2013, in prestigious events against strong fields, disprove the assertion that he was finished by his personal scandals and apparently supercharged libido. His downturn in 2014 was clearly health related and culminated in back surgery, a precarious situation for anyone, let alone an athlete competing against the best in the world.

Whether you love him or hate him, his saga has been fascinating to watch, even if these days the fascination is more akin to being unable to avert your eyes from a grisly accident.

Dan - I agree that his mental state probably contributed the most to his downfall, but his body has really failed him as well. It's amazing just how old he looks right now and he's only 39. If you go back and look at pics of him just 10 years ago, it's incredible how much he's aged considering what an athlete he was/is. I think you'll eventually down the road hear more and more rumors/stories about PEDs...I think it's inevitable.

I think we've all slowed down over the last 10 years.

MasterLuJr 06-21-2015 11:53 PM

I agree with pretty much everyone has said but let's also give credit to the other golfers. When Tiger first started he was really the only one lifting weights/etc and that translated into a greatly beneficial shot distance ratio. I've even heard other golfers being interviewed and saying, Tiger made us weightlift/train otherwise we would just keep losing. Of course Tiger had immense skill as well. I think he might have just lost that competitive edge, maybe due to injuries/personal issue/etc. It was something to watch when he was at his peak and would dominate a tournament.

Masterlu 06-21-2015 11:58 PM

No doubt!

all well and good, but as I asked you before……did he win a major ? Also, who was his caddie the last time he won a Major ?

Bottom line is this, when his career is done all his tournament wins will be totaled (yes a big number) but at the end of the day his judgment against 'Jack' will be the number of Majors.

I don't think that's germane to my point, which is that his return to the world #1 ranking in 2013 shows that he did recover from his personal scandal.

OK, I'll give you that. But time is definitely no longer on his side if he is to catch and pass Jack ………….but then again Jack won his last major in his mid forties I believe so you never know !

Jack was 46 when he won the Masters in 1986

Tiger Woods ‘delusional’ to believe he’s close to regaining world-class form

Tiger Woods

Formerly YB-2 07-17-2015 04:09 PM

Delusional? He's only 10-12 shots, or so, off the pace after two rounds. ;) As one report I read stated, "Jeeves, gas up the jet and get 'er warmed up. We're going home (after two embarrassing rounds)." Too bad. He was really good while it lasted.

Higgens 07-17-2015 04:52 PM

As of now, Tiger is 16 shots off the lead. He's played 8 holes of his second round and is tied for 140 in a field of 155 golfers. He's in deep do-do.

turntable 07-17-2015 11:43 PM

He needs to go back to his old ways of boning every woman / whore he can lay his hands on in every city he visits to play golf.

Can wait for the movie :D

Jack in Wilmington 08-04-2015 08:01 AM

It was great to see Tiger put together 3 solid rounds in the 60's this weekend. It's encouraging that he may finally get his new swing and his head on the same page.

Formerly YB-2 08-04-2015 12:08 PM

Indeed. Tiger is only reason I've ever watched golf. If he gets his head & swing together, I'll watch a bit more.

ehoove 08-05-2015 08:32 PM

The last weekend was promising!
Regards,
Jim

Other than the Ryder Cup and the President's Cup I no longer watch golf since Tiger has become a non-factor. If/when he becomes competitive I will watch again.

Formerly YB-2 08-25-2015 07:32 AM

Tiger 'almost' made it last weekend. We'll see what he does in October.

audioguy3107 08-25-2015 09:08 AM

Definitely better, the question is whether it was progress or an anomaly.

more or less meaningless, remember the top tier Fed Ex players all took the weekend off.

But he did shoot 4 good rounds of golf and it has been awhile since he's done that. Would he have shot them against a stellar field, who knows? But I think Tiger's toughest competition is himself. He needs to believe that he's getting better and trust his new swing.

Well, the time has come. First time I have paid attention to golf in about 3 years other than for the Ryder Cup and President's Cup. Should be an interesting afternoon to see if Tiger can stay competitive in this last round.

joey_v 03-11-2018 12:46 PM

I’m watching too

vintage_tube 03-11-2018 12:46 PM

:puke:

I'll definitely be rooting for anyone but him. Since he's not due on the tee for an hour yet, he's probably looking for a van.:smoking:

Best Sir,

Bob
