Modwright 36.5 pre and psu

ModWright Instruments | LS 36.5 Tube Linestage

surprised to see no threads re this highly rated pre and its psu

how does it compare to other high end pre`s like arc ref 5 or music first baby ?

I haven't heard the others. I have heard the 36.5 and own a swl 9.0se that 2 weeks ago had the upgraded psu and all modwright caps installed. And it is Amazing now paired with my white oak upgraded phase linear amp.. I am a big modwright fan.

Thanks

I have not heard the MC452 with the MW 36.5 DM, but I have heard the MC402 with the MW pre and I thought the sound from the combination was terrific! The DM is truly a reference level preamp and one of the best I've listened to. Hope that helps...

Can anyone comment on Modwright 3.5DM vs Mcintosh C500T? Which one is better?

very quiet on here but I have been running a modwright 36.5 for quite a few months now
recently revalved at under 100 pounds . sounds sublime . beautiful midrange and built like a tank . highly recommended

I am now demoing the LS 36.5 in my system after having the LS100 for a couple of years. Initial impressions are very positive! It is a more neutral preamp and I believe it is a better match for my system with lower output impedance for driving my MC501 amps via balanced outputs along with a dead silent background. I also like that I can run the HT bypass without having the unit turned on and running the tubes. More to follow as things break in...

What are you upgrading from?

ModWright LS100 as I mentioned above. It's a positive move in terms of overall system matching and sound quality in my system, although I will miss the excellent phono preamp module in the LS100, and to a lesser extent, the built in headphone amp.

The LS100 phono is that good huh? What will you do for a phono stage now?
