The seal point Birman is Dharma -- naming of Birmans is done with the letter beginning their name being decided by the year according to some sort of Birman rules so her name had to start with a D. She qualifies as a show cat except we had to sign a contract with the cattery that she would never compete in cat shows (as if we were interested in showing her -- we are not interested in anything other than a nice pet). The lilac point Birman is Snowball -- since she has so many throwback genes from the Siamese side of their gene pool and the low end of even that gene pool, she does not in any way resemble a Birman or sound like a Birman and we did not name her in the Birman style. My wife (a lady who would just as soon have a 13 inch black and white TV with single 3 inch speaker instead of my audio/HT system) was a "dog person" when we married 26 years ago and after owning first a British Shorthair for years and now these two Birmans, she has turned from the dark side over to liking cats enough to volunteer one evening a week at the local nokill cat shelter and is always wanting to bring one home.
Both cats technically belong to our daughter who is in college but own the house :D.
