JohnThomas.......I saw that Burmester 911MkIII. The asking price is close to half off full retail. Sound by Singer is a high-end audio dealer in New York City with many very fine lines of audio equipment, and is an authorized Burmester dealer. The amplifier for sale on Audiogon is said to be a demo, so it should be spotless, and probably has very low hours on it. It looks like an excellent deal. Give him what he wants, and take that beauty home.

Well it looks like I'm the proud owner of my first Burmester piece. I will be lucky enough to compare it to the 501's for a while. I'll be running them direct from the MDA1000/MCD1000. Any opinions on the Burmester 035 preamp? Besides more $$$. They were offering me one of those.

Congrats John,

About time someone started trying some of the different wares out there...

JohnThomas.......Way to go! The Burmester 911MkIII is a gorgeous amplifier that will most certainly please you. I have read discussions where this amp was compared to the MC501's, and was prefered for its ability to flesh out the tiniest of details while remaining ultra smooth and solid. It's good that you will be able to do some head to head comparisons of the Burmester against the 501's. I am looking forward to your impressions. Congratulations.

I know I love mine and am thinking of adding a 2nd one this year, if finances permit. It's a different sound than the Mc to be sure...

I'm in deep now just close the deal on the 035 preamp. I've never used a preamp before. Always went direct to the amp. What sold me on the 035 was it's partial class A, simplicity, the bypass feature as well as price. Well if this Burmester story doesn't end well. Somebody will be buying some Burmester equipment cheaper then me.

Wow John -- congrats on the Burmester equipment. Great build quality and sound to boot. I saw one of their amps that was factory "disected" at RMAF a few years ago -- just absolutely pristine and typical of German engineering & quality standards. The music being played in their room was awesome with pinpoint clarity. Stunning gear needless to say.

Wow John, is right....

Nothing like swinging for the fence... you only live once.

Glad you made they move, these components will have great synergy together.

Congrats.

What speakers will the new amp drive? Hansen's or PMC's?
