McIntosh Trade-Up Program: Are You Tempted?
McIntosh is promoting another Trade-Up Program, this time towards a new MVP901.
I have an MVP881 that I like a lot, even though I know many McIntosh users have reservations about the company's digital products. So I'm tempted by this offer, especially if I could wrangle an additional little discount from my local friendly Mac dealer. I do have some concerns because the 901 is based on an Oppo mechanism, as I recall. What do you think? Is anyone else contemplating taking advantage of the program? |
Not tempted in the least. No 4K is a deal breaker. I still have an Oppo 205 in the box, and other manufacturers offer good 4k Blu-ray and everything machines.

Panasonic 9000 in this house. I feel like Mac will be sitting on these for a while unless there is a blowout.

Video and Digital Audio are both moving targets. In this arena, if you aren’t leading then you are in the rear view mirror.

I don't have a Mc bluray player to trade up to a new Mc bluray player, but even if I had one I think I'll wait another decade for Mc to finally release a 4K version.
I still enjoy 3D bluray movies, but my oppo 203 and 205 players do both bluray and 4k. |
McIntosh Trade-Up Program: Are You Tempted?
The Oppo’s are great, and picked up one each (203 and 205) before company ceased manufacturing. Trusty 981 is still running great although does not read Blu-Ray, sonically it is refreshing to use as a source for CD’s. 8k is around the corner.

I am not tempted at all. I was until I saw the McIntosh doesn't do 4K. That's a deal breaker for me.
|
I’m guessing there is a 4K player in the wings and a lot of current MVP 901 stock to move.
