I use a credit card between the body of the Ultra SS and the speaker ( or component). Tighten down the Ultra SS until it hits the credit card, then pull the credit card out and you have your gap. Now take your credit card and go buy more Stillpoints!

Dan - congratulations on a great review and the nice photography. I find your post compelling enough I'm budgeting for these little beauties next year. With a 3 chassis DAC that has 4 individual power supplies, this is bound to be an expensive endeavor...

I unscrewed the Stillpoints Ultra SS from the chassis of my two McIntosh MC2301 power amplifiers. I used the credit card suggestion to achieve equal spacing on all eight footers. Lo and behold I discovered a small improvement in low frequency definition. Bass, particularly acoustic double bass, gained a bit more clarity on the initial release of plucked strings. It is slight, but noticeable. I also noticed the elimination of an occasional biting edge on certain upper octave piano notes in some recordings that are now properly reproduced without creating undue attention. Ivan's advice for backing the Ultra SS footers off the amplifier chassis proved worthwhile. There seems to be no end to continuously chasing the audio dragon's tail. It is great fun.

Glad to hear Dan... I speak to Paul Wakeen; Stillpoints CEO on a regular basis.

Good stuff, can't beat getting improvements with stuff you already have.

Not for nothing, but if I can get more performance/enjoyment from my existing gear/investment, then it is well worth it to me!

brownbear.......It's icing on the cake when its free. Thanks for the suggestion about using a credit card to gauge the spacing. It worked like a champ.
