Sound Beaming Tech Sends 3D Audio to Your Head — No Earbuds Needed
“You don’t believe it because it sounds like a speaker, but no one else can hear it,” says Product Manager Aya Wallwater (not long ago that would have been a serious concern.. :D)
The SoundBeamer users a 3D sensing module that locates and tracks the user’s ear position. It then sends the audio via ultrasonic waves to create sound pockets enveloping the user’s ear. The sound delivered in this manner can be heard in stereo or spatial 3D audio for the listener. https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/202...tech-3d-audio/ https://regionalpress.com/wp-content...te-800x445.jpg |

I dunno, might be useful for laptop music.

I can see this technology being embraced by gamers and casual listeners. Actually the potential for sound without disturbing others around you is the obvious and revolutionary advantage for anyone, save the diehard audiophiles. Audiophiles will be the last to adopt it. If it even takes off :D
