Wow! I bet they sound great.

I'd be very curious what the BTU rating is! They may turn the room into a Finnish Sauna besides playing music. :D

Since they leave clas A at 80 watts, similar to the X600.5's unless you really need the extra power (who truly drives more than 400-500 watts) you may be better off with the X600.5's. Especially if you are running 4 ohm speakers. All the Pass amps are under rated as to power output.

Ivan - for what speakers? Aida's? Futuras? Something else you're hiding in your storage closet? :)
Desmond Harrington (former Lead Engineer for Krell) designed the X1000.5. I will PM you his email in case you are interested in hearing from the horses mouth! Depending on what speakers, don't pass up (no pun intended) the XA200.5's. The top dog Pass amp is the xs300 --> The Pass Labs Xs 300 delivers 2kW "all day long" | Stereophile.com https://passlabs.com/products/amplifiers/xs/xs-300 NOTE: Joe, do not click on any of the above links. Your head might explode. Mine just did. Mike |

Pass Lineage.
Nelson Pass, Joe Sammut and Rene Besne together started Threshold Joe Sammut left Threshold to join Dan at Krell Digital Joe Sammut left the East Coast and Krell to re-join Nelson Pass at Pass Labs. Joe coaxed Desmond Harringtion to leave Krell a year later with promise of bigger waves in the Pacific. Today Desmond Harringtion is president of Pass Labs, Joe Sammut does marketing and sales, Nelson and Wayne Colburn are the lead designers......... and a cast of others! Cyclotronguy |

I've spoken with Wayne Colburn on several occasions over the phone. I find him to be a very nice and a professional guy. Pass Labs is a very friendly company to me.

Pass Labs is GREAT on the phone.
Kent English helped me set up my XVR1 crossover, and you need assistance the first time you set it up in a three way or more-way configuration because it is not the same as setting up a two way because you will be using bandpass mode for even better performance. |
Desmond Harrington was instrumental during my decision to buy the XA160.5's (he talked me out of the 200.5's). He answered all my questions and steered me in the right direction for what was best for my room with my speakers.
My dealer helped answered a number of my questions as well - including following up after 10 days, 30 days, 60 days, etc. (he must have calendar reminders because they were always right on the day!) And....just yesterday, I received a nice email from Nelson Pass himself. THAT my friends...is customer service! |
