MC462 (No Power Dead)

My MC462 since Saturday has been inconsistently powering on, finally on Saturday it stopped powering up. Dealer said it could be the 15Amp fast blow Fuse. Went and picked a couple of fuses from my dealer. Came home and it worked for the rest of Saturday and Sunday, but this afternoon it would not turn on. Tried another 15Amp Fuse, but No Power.

Have e-mailed my Dealer to take next steps.

had same issues with the MC302 a few weeks ago... My unit was only two weeks old. apparently there was just something loose on the IEC outlet... Tightening it eliminated the problem.. all good now.... hope you can fix yours soon.

Crap ! So sorry to hear that. It just reminds me of the first MC462 I had that was DOA when delivered. I hope there isn't some QC issue at McIntosh.

What do you do if you have to send it in for service ? Hopefully the dealer will provide some kind of loaner amp ? In the DOA case I had, new fuses did not fix the issue.

Keep us posted on what happens. I just ordered a new MC-462 a couple days ago, so while I hope your issue gets fixed and is nothing serious I am also hoping its not a wider spread issue.

MC462 (No Power Dead)

Hi MintakaX, IM3CPO, yes will keep you all posted. We tried fuse and it brought MC462 back to life for about 48hours then dead again. As it turned out the original fuse was fine showing a reading of 2.0. It is not a fuse issue. The Technician at my dealership said if the Red LED is on then it is getting power. He believes it is an issue with the Protection circuitry and it is not resetting or there may be a fault issue in the protection circuit. It looks like at this point I will be getting a new one, just a month of use, but beautiful. I just boxed it up tonight for sending back to McIntosh. The dealer said this was highly unusual, but if there was a ‘batch of parts that were less than satisfactory’ it could be the reason, however please know that this is speculation at this point. I have confidence in McIntosh and am sure they will remedy if it is a chronic issue. They did ask for the Serial Number of my MC462. Just wanting the new piece and hoping it is going to be up to Spec and flawless in operation and finish.

This appears to have affected multiple units. I think the last time I heard of such a thing was with the MC752 ... Which Mc quickly rectified.

Am looking forward to my Replacement 🧐

I ordered a pair of MC611's in August with a delivery of Oct8, that was pushed to Nov2... Hopefully they found the problem with the new line of amps and are being proactive and pushing out some ship dates.

Hope so as well. I hear that replacement MC462 should arrive before the end of October.
