Thanks Dan......that stainless kitchen rack was my first, then the Salamander Synergy Twin 30 and this Core Audio will be my "foundation rack" to build from.

Nothing beats the beauty of wood built by fine craftsman ie Sonus Faber and Core Audio...just to name a couple.

Great looking rack! Arnold makes beautiful racks. I have a few of those and Arnold also made the sound diffusor one can see in my AA profile picture.

Anyone else own this brand? Build quality looks excellent.

Funny this thread just got re-posted.
I just took my son for a visit to Arnold's shop in Novato and picked up my amp stands. (We where there just 2 hours ago). He's one of the most generously nice persons I've met. He showed us his shop and his personal systems in his home. He's only 45 minutes from my home.

I had also purchased a used older Mod4 rack a few months ago. Will post some pictures in a few weeks once my system is up and running. [emoji6]

Beautiful craftsmanship.

Beautiful indeed!

Moving forward

I will be ordering two 4 shelf racks from CORE. The biggest challenge is now the selection of woods to use. Definitely going with the zebra uprights, but can't decide on shelf material yet.

I ordered a PlyKraft 4L M/W a few weeks ago and should be picking it up next week. Really excited!

Opened one of my Amp stands Saturday night (no spikes installed yet)

That walnut is gorgeous.

GreginNH1 01-15-2018 06:10 PM

Gee Ventoux... I was thinking I wanted zebra. Now you have me second guessing myself! The walnut looks fantastic!

Ya, I purchased both a used Mod4 and a Mod3 (both in black walnut) weeks ago. So, I had to match with the new stands. Here's some eye candy of Arnold's room that we visited Saturday. He had a custom rack with a Hawaiian wood for the legs that was gorgeous.

Going with Zebrawood

I will be ordering two racks in Zebrawood next week. One month lead time but I’m sure it will be worth it.

CGabriel 01-27-2018 05:07 PM

I have about 8 racks and several amp stands. He also built a custom set of speaker stands for our Harbeth 40.2s. First rate quality from a first rate company. Couldn’t be happier.

Are these amp stands (with a raised inner board) of a newer generation?

Your amp stand looks different from the one on their website. I think the website is not up to date.

They have many more updates on their Facebook pages, including real-time updates of customer builds.

This forced me to log-into my facebook account for the first time in 6 months... Lots of great stuff. Thanks for the info.

Zebras in progress

I just received an update from Arnold today. He sent me several photos of the zebra wood he will be using for the legs. They have just been cut. They will really “pop” when the finish goes on. I have every confidence they will look great.

For those who may be wondering the reason for wild vs linear grains, this will allow me to change up the look of the racks by simply rotating them 180 degrees.

That is just gorgeous. Zebra wood is such a beautiful wood. I can't wait to see what the completed stand looks like.

A couple more photos of the progress. Two more weeks before they ship. Arnold has been an absolute joy to deal with and we have shared many stories about other common interests such as Ducatis and air-cooled Porsches.

I'm liking the Core Audio Design rack more and more. It is kind of modular as one can simply order legs of different heights to accommodate extra gears.

Are you getting the regular satin finish or glossy finish?

To be honest, I didn’t know I had a choice.

I will send them an email but am curious if he would add a fifth shelf in the four shelf unit and allow for custom shelf heights? I would be interested in the standard overall height but have three short pieces of equipment and one normal height one.

He'll do anything within reason. Read here: http://coreaudiodesigns.com/common-questions/

"We will happily entertain custom work within reason i.e.: Audio racks: overall height, shelf spacing, increase or decrease top shelf bevel, & mixing wood types."

When I finally have some funds to replace my used Mod4 rack, I would do the same. I plan to add a turn table down the road, but making due with what I have now. :music:

Not sure how many he gives these out to, custom hand built letter opener. Was in with my amp stands when I picked them up from his shop/house a few weeks ago.

Yes, he can do this - I actually discussed the same thing with Arnold. It takes a little longer (he has to re-set jigs) and more money. I suggest you call him. He is so incredibly considerate and knowledgeable!
