DVD 5000 issues
 

My trusted DVD5000 has upon being restarted after a year or so, started skipping while playing CDs and DVDs. It seems to have no issue reading them but then while playing it skips or stutters. I have used a 'cleaner CD' without success and my next step is to open it up and clean the lens with IPA (Isopropyl alcohol) and q-tip.

I am wondering if the collective has any other wisdom for me (other than buy an Oppo :naughty:)

I just saved an old Phillips Plasma TV with new capacitors and that has givne me confidence to fix this wonderful DVD player.
