Silver or copper
Hello all . I just received my Xmas gift to myself , It is a MT5 turntable . I am looking to upgrade my cables from the MT5 to my MA9000 . I was hoping to keep it under 1k for a 1.5m cable . My initial thoughts were to use the Audioquest water but I’m thinking I may benefit from a silver coated cable . I am using the Bluepoint 2 cart for now ( Mc @ 1000pf ) but may also upgrade that down the line . I am also listening using Sonus Fabre Signatures . My pockets aren’t as deep as some of yours but I would appreciate some input.
PS my musical tastes are from rock to classical. |
Congrats!

shindo.......I don't think you can go wrong with the Furutech AG-12 phono cable.
http://www.furutech.com/2013/02/02/1698/ Ivan (Masterlu) is a Furutech dealer. PM him for his best price. http://www.musiclinkav.com/store/com...c70db6bfdf.jpg |
Ivan is also a WireWorld dealer. I'm very pleased with my Platinum Eclipse. The 7 is currently on close-out sale as the new new 8 is phased in. The Silver Eclipse would give you the best of both worlds with its silver-coated copper conductors.

Dedicated phono cables will have much smaller gauge wires and lower capacitance, optimized for phono applications. The Audioquest Water is a good line-level interconnect, and would probably sound quite good on your turntable, but it's not optimized for that role. The AQ Leopard, Furutech, or WireWorld phono cables would all be excellent options. But with RCA-to-RCA phono cables you'll generally have those extra grounding spades on both ends you'll need to figure out what best to do with on your MT5 and phono stage.

I am sure there are technical issues well above my pay grade that have been eluded to regarding impedance, capacitance and grounding. I would suggest heading to the advice of those “in the know”.
I personally do not care for silver clad copper wire, they tend to sound bright IMHO. I would try to listen before committing. Good luck. Mike S. |

Wireworld delivers some of the best if not the best “bang for the buck” performance of any cable brand.

I have not listened to Wire World cables so your experience exceeds my own. I am always ready to learn. Mike S. |
