iRule

Who is using the iRule IP centric home automation system for their home, HT, HiFi?

It looks like a good, cheap & scaleable solution. Is it worth researching further?

Is it easy to setup & does it offer complex, granular & conditional programming options if you want to dive deep?

What are your personal experiences?

So far the only downside I see is limited hand-held device options, iPad or Android only. So, no ruly one handed tactile remote control support for the classic man with his other hand full.

Would appreciate commentary on the good & the BAD. For those of us considering, an honest summary of real world experience is more valuable than reading up about trumped up product affection, which quite frankly becomes tiring after a while. :)

Spend the 50 bucks and start building your program. The best way to decide for yourself.....

Can discrete codes be programmed into iRule? I like using remotes with RS232 serial control because it allows me to access functions, such as turning off Audyssey room correction with one touch of a button rather that scrolling through menus, or having discrete on/off commands.

iRule works together with Global Cache' to integrate via RS232 to your gear.

Global Caché | IP. WiFi. PoE. IR. Serial. Contact Closure.

Thanks Ivan. I'll be exploring options for IP control in the next couple of years because I see the end of life coming to the URC MSC-400 controller on the horizon.
