Denon DL 109 D

Anybody heard of this? I bought one, brand new, not paying attention to the ad. It is a moving magnet model. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I thought I was buying a virgin 103-D.:scratch2:

Bob.......Did you buy the one on Audiogon from J M Sound? If not, here's the link to that ad. It lists the specifications and date of manufacture. I have never seen the Denon DL 109D.

I did indeed, I was just hoping someone had heard it. Specs are often untrusthworthy in my experience with analogue gear.:D

Bob... I found this statement on another site.

"...DENON DL-109 MM Phono Cartridge. IMHO, it has a sound character similar to the DL-103 BUT on MM...though the DL-103 has more detail, YET the DL-109 has the punch."

Thanks! I miss my old 103 D and want to put one on an old Oracle Alexandria I have.

First time I've heard of a 109. It almost has to be the mm version of the 103 imo.

30+ years old. Hopefully, the suspension is fine. Let us know how it sounds.

Curious if anyone has a good suggestion for re-tipping a DL160? Mine's reaching that point and unfortunately didn't realize they were discontinuing it...

Soundsmith does an excellent job. You have a selection of stylus & cantilever options to choose from. Am most pleased with what Peter did on both my Kontrapunkt-b and Kleos.

The problem with re-tipping a Denon DL160 is the cost, which would most likely be more than the original cost of the cartridge. It was a great value at its ~$180 price, but you could probably spend almost twice that to have it re-tipped. Not sure that's justified.
