SOtM UltraNeo in da House!

My SOtM UltaNeo arrived today! :D

It didn't come with a wall-wart PS, and my Keces P3 is still on-order, but it turns out the el cheapo wall wart for my KyroBak is 12V/3 amps, which matches the powering requirements for 12V UltraNeo just fine.

So....I just set it up a short while ago, and have started streaming music to it via Roon to start the burn-in process...

I put my home-made JSGSS (John Swenson Ground Shunt Strap) on the DC barrel plug to shunt high-impedance leakage currents from the wall-wart (which I presume to be a SMPS) to ground....be d*mned, HILCs! :p

Cold, out of the box, powered a cheap-*ss wall-wart PS I had lying about the house, it flat smokes the microRendu. :music:

I can only imagine what it will sound like when I move the Uptone LPS-1 UltraCap over to power the OpticalModule, when I get my incoming GhentAudio JSSG DC cables & the Keces LPS on it, and it burns in...:scratch2:

:D

More later, stay tuned....

Great news, and to start off like you did will allow it time to settle and see the difference as you add piece by piece.

But, of course! (said with my best possible French accent!)...

Hi Ivan,
Do you have the 5/7/9V and 12V/15V/16V units in stock?

Urg...I don't know if I can cancel my order with Power Holdings; they have a "virtually no returns policy", but I will call them tomorrow. Maybe they'll let me cancel and issue a refund as they have not shipped mine yet. I'll let you know tomorrow.

When did you start carrying this line of products?

Thanks for the heads up!

That’s who I get mine from; what do they say?

I’m using the Keces balanced isolation power conditioner. Good stuff. I wrote a review on it here on AA. Besides being a tremendous value power conditioner, I love how it protects against brownouts. Happened twice in one day recently in fact. Fortunately I have not had to rely on it for a spike/surge yet but I’m sure it would protect as advertised. No doubt Keces builds superb linear power supplies as well. It’s a huge Taiwanese company by the way and they supply toroidal transformers to many in the audio and other industries... :smoking:

They are out of stock; ETA is June 15, but obviously, that is just that: an estimate. I don't know if it will be drop-shipped directly to me or if it has to go to Power Holdings first and then he has to ship it to me. So, I don't know really when to expect it.

Good to know, thanks, Serge.

I've also ordered the (new) Uptone Audio LPS-1.2, which supports 5, 7, 9, and 12V output, and there's gonna be shootout in Tombstone. The Uptone has an advantage in that will absolutely not pass any low-impedance or high-impedance AC leakage currents down the DC power cable into whatever it is powering. I don't know about the Keces with respect to this.

I've also got two GhentAudio Gotham JSSG DC power cables coming, and they will prevent that, too.

Not familiar with their Linear Power Supplies but I would think they have it all covered. Take a look at the P8 Ultra Low Noise model. http://www.kecesaudio.com/

Looking forward to your experimentation and impressions.
