Canton Reference 3K vs B&W 802 D3

Has anybody had a chance to compare the 3K and the 802 D3? I would be interested to hear opinions on this. While cost is always a consideration, I am more interested in the sonic differences or similarities.

Interesting question LarsT , as i visited a German dealer and heard B&W 802D3 and noticed he also had Canton and asked him about them. As he said they was not as good as the B&W... but thats his word and i did not had a chance to listen to them ( Canton´s )

I think he was fairly earnest about this as i will probably not buy from him as i live in Denmark and can bye here. ( i also told him that before taking his time , which i did not want to. )

I have 802D3 in one system and Canton Reference Jubilee (very similar to 3K) in another system. The Canton's are great speakers. Very easy to mate with different amps. Really musical and joyful presentation. However the 802D,3 is really a different category. Better in every aspect. And of course, the price is double the 3K :) But if you are on a tight budget, you will never regret owning the 3K. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I’m still going back and forth. I change my mind a couple of times a day. I just want to make the right decision for me because I’m not looking to repeat this process for quite a long time.

Lars

Since you already own a speaker from each company in the same line as the two models you are asking about which one of the ones you own do you prefer and why. The other two are just bigger and more of a similar sound signature from the same designers.

The 802D3 buys you more assurance that you made the right choice :)

This is my plan as of now. I just need someone to take over the Cantons first. If not, I will have to take delivery.

So @LarsT, did you end up getting Canton 3K or B&W 802 D3? Or neither (looking at your signature)? Thanks

I previously mentioned to you, the Canton K3’s were sold.

Lars is the proud owner of Stradivari’s.

After trying Paradigm Persona 5F, B&W 802 D3, Sonus and Faber Elipsa, I happily ended up with the Strads.
