Why doesn't someone sell a hi-end directv box?

Hey, a lot of us spend a fortune on our audio equipment, tv's, cables, etc. Why hasn't anyone come out with a nicer directv dvr box? A nice box with some blue meters might be nice or some other nice piece of electronics. Why would we want to mix a cheap box in to our collection? Just something to think about.:confused-22:

I guess I'm assuming most here have directv, maybe I'm wrong. Directv's service and picture are so superior in my opinion to cable, I wouldn't have anything else.

Have you seen the Directv HR-21 Pro?

I went from Charter cable to DirectTV HD and thought to myself why it took me so long. Direct is far superior to cable. It would be cool to have a better looking box but mine are black with blue lights.

It is very similar to the HR-20's and regular 21's, but it does have a few extra features. The 500 GB internal hard drive is a nice upgrade.

John,
Thanks for the info. I have a couple of the HR21's and 22's. Is the pro really any better or does it just have more space?
I guess I was really meaning hi-end like a new mc source price. Several thousand dollars. Not that I really need more things to spend my dollar on. I'm just a little surprized it's not out there.

I don't think it's high-end, just somewhat better than the regular boxes. I think the best that can be done is to send its signals via HDMI to high quality video/audio processors.

Mike.......I have a couple small black and gold McIntosh decals. I could stick them on one of my DirecTV receivers, price it in the area that would make your feel it was high-end, and ship it tomorrow. :D

Mike.......I know what you mean. The DirecTV receivers are rather cheesy looking, and have dimensions that don't look very attractive in a rack.

Back in 2003 Sony manufactured a nice HD DirecTV satellite receiver, as did Zenith. The Sony SAT-HD200 retailed for $899.00. Here's a link to an artical on the Sony SAT-HD200 verses the Zenith HD-SAT520, which was also a high-end satellite receiver.
