SRA for Cadenza Black

Looking for some guidance to know when I have SRA right for my MC Ortofon Cadenza Black with Nude Shibata stylus. Not sure my ears are sharp enough to detect a change. Tried using a SMARTstylus gauge but my eyes were challenging. May need to get out the 'scope but prefer to set by ear.

I used an ortofon jubilee for years with 2 different tonearms and found the best sound resulted in the arm level to the record/plater. The bigger challenge was getting the azimuth dialed in with the ridges on top of the cartridge meant for adjustment.

Thank you Keef.

I've run a number of Ortofon MC's over the years, including Jubilee, Windfeld, Cadenza, Kontrapunkts - and they're pretty consistent about having the cartridge top's level being a good setting point for proper SRA. You can tweak a little in either direction by ear.

The cut of the Shibata is way, way different than that of the Replicant stylus. The Shibata's shank looks somewhat close to straight up & down. The Replicant looks like its tip sweeps back significantly towards the tonearm pivot. That can be disorienting the first time you get an Ortofon with the Replicant stylus.

I will deal with the Replicant on my A95. Good to go with my Cadenza for now. Thank you to all who have helped. As mentioned earlier the Smartstylus was not much help so I went ahead and ordered another Fox. Never should have sold the first one I had.

How do you like the sound of the Cadenza Black?

I have been very pleased with the CB. Prior to this I had a Lyra Delos - I thought that was a very good cartridge. This one easily is a better cartridge. Many believe the Cadenza Bronze is the sweet spot in the Ortofon lineup.

Kevin.......I found this information on the Analog Planet website.

I have the Ortofon Cadenza Black mounted on a SME309 tonearm. I used a 10X loupe to view the stylus and make adjustments. I am very close to a 93 degree angle. I used my calibrated Fozgometer to adjust the azimuth. The Cadenza Black sounds incredible.

I bought the microscope but I was never able to find the right arm to use it so it's been collecting dust ever since :(
