Krell Evo 302 amp failure

:tears:

Hi everyone,
[sorry for my very poor English]

few month ago, after a power outage, my power amp never power on, front light didnt turn on also.
I've called the Krell french distributor, and after analysing the pb, it's seen to come from transformer :sigh: and some other small pièces.

Does anyone have had this kind of pb? how much does it cost? How long does it take to repair because we're are still waiting the price from Krell, and they don't seem to speed up...
I'm very sad about Krell attitude, it's a high end power amp (I love it so much!!!!) but if i need to change, i will consider twice this kind of attitude :icon_thumbsdown:
I was looking for Evo600e but perhaps I will prefer an other brand.
Despite this, anyone know if it's better to transform in "e" version or not? does it include transformer or note? it could be a good thing, not? how much does transformation cost and does krell still do it?
thank you and i hope that could be fix asap :music:

Hello,

A power surge doesn't usually damage the transformer. The over-voltage protection device such as MOV blows and usually fails in a shorted state which will then blow some fuses. The MOV can be replaced by any electronic technicians and likewise with the fuses. The repair should be simple. Krell amps also have a voltage and frequency sensing circuit that could be damaged, but it can be replaced without too much problem. Good luck.

Hello,

Thank you for your repply I'm still waiting the quote from my technician because I dont know exactly the pb....

Mr Froggy 07-03-2019 05:08 AM

I received the quote, and how can i say?!? It's pretty expensive for stand-by transformer, 1250€ without the work and perhaps more circuit have to be changed!
For a 2007 amp, I think it's too much money and I probably don't repair it...

I'm looking for new one !
