Servicing Shindo gear

Hi guys and Happy New Year!

I am new to Shindo gear and a happy owner. I was able to acquire a Montille locally in really nice shape, an Aurieges, Mr T, Arome and a few cables recently. I am wondering if Shindo dealers would service items not bought in their store? Also, if in the future I would like to upgrade, would they be willing to accept my gear as a partial trade?

Any and every insight/experience would be greatly appreciated!

Servicing Shindo

Laszlo,

Like many imported lines (eg, Accuphase), Shindo in the US (aka Tone Imports) restricts servicing to items bought from authorized dealers. The pedigree of a secondhand item is therefore important. Here is the comment from Tone Imports:

Important Tone Imports Policy Notice

I would assume that a trade in would be similarly restricted. There is however a healthy secondary market on the usual audio sale sites.

Regards,

Simon

Thanks. i love the Shindo gear and even my wife is OK with me acquiring some.
While i understand the policy i just could not afford to spend as much as a new car on new Shindo gear...

i believe the question being asked is if used Shindo gear that breaks can be repaired by Shindo, correct? I would assume they would repair the product for a fee? The Tone Imports notice seems to be referencing buying new gear from unauthorized "dealers". I would assume it refers to warranty repairs. Perhaps a dealer or Tone could clarify?

That is correct I have it in writing from our local Shindo Agent

that I nor any person who buys a Shindo item I wish to sell --that I bought

privately, will get NO service nor backup from him or the factory.

Ouch! That's good to know.

Just a friendly suggestion- Instead of asking questions on a forum where you are getting guess work and incorrect info, why not ask the sources? The same dealer you had no issue having set up multiple systems for you (ILS) can tell you their policy in regards to trade ins.

Trade ins are at the dealers discretion and have nothing to do with me.

Service is provided for any legit gear- if it came from an authorized agent in your country of residence. If its imported by you or the previous owner, no service or parts will be provided.

I can't speak for other distributors, only myself.

I have always found both the distributor and the dealers to be very helpful when I asked them questions directly. I have often received the wrong answer on forums. ILS is a great dealer both of the steve's go above and beyond. If you are west coast Matt is a terrific dealer to work with.

Thanks all for the replies.
Jonathan thou are absolutely right and will do - i guess i was looking for real life experience of members. All the gear is legit, but unfortunately only the pre-amp has some papers (I think bought at Pitch Perfect originally).

I can certainly find a few extremely well trained techs, but i would rather try to service (when needed) through the most knowledgeable channels. That was really behind my question and again thank all for the suggestions.
