On Tuesday all the gear for my new TT rig dropped. Yesterday was the day arranged to have it all setup and dialed in. Mike Trei, who writes for Sound & Vision, came by in the afternoon and spent 8 hours painstakingly building this contraption. This same morning Bill Peugh (metafacts) paid me a visit to voice my Strads. It's going to take some time getting used to all the different angles and danger zones involved in successfully navigating the carts and arms in such a confined area. While Mike was here I had him dial in my JA Michell Gyro SE as well. Well worth his efforts!

We did about an hour of listening together once he was finished. I lost my point of reference (Gyro SE) so comparisons had to be done from memory. The Da Vinci'/Universal combo sounded solid but a touch bright. I'll be running that in for a bit. The Goldfinger/TT-2 combo sounded spectacular right out of the box! It seemed as though every aspect of vinyl playback benefited from this combo. The presentation was so much more musical. I'll of course run this cart in as well before I can fully appreciate/articulate it's impact. Mike gave me a neat way to accelerate a carts break-in time. He said I could simply leave the cart sitting on an album while the motor was off. This adds to cantilever break-in without adding to wear. The caveat is of course, there can be no inadvertent bumps or touches while the cart is in this vulnerable state. The kids, cleaning lady and wife have been warned!

Looks to be shaping up for a good weekend to do some critical listening! :music:

Beautiful set up... I have to say looking at your pictures of your C500T with handles adds a nice aesthetic effect. I think that it now looks on par with the C1000 with the 3d glass. Your turntables look great as well but do you really want 2 ? I'll be happy to buy your JA Mitchell from you :D

Looks great!

An obsessive/compulsive's dream setup, two TT, three tonearms and three cartridges plus all of the various settings to go along! :D

Jerome, Thanks, the wood is what caught my eye as well!

David, Thanks and nice try! After having the JA Michell re-dailed in by a pro, I think it's a keeper! :D

howie, sounds better than I've ever heard before. Which, for now, is good enough for me! The Io, even before the new TT, dramatically improved my enjoyment. Scratch the itch!

Ivan, Thanks, funny you should say that! :D

BuffaloBill, Thanks and great quote!

Kevin, The "obsessive/compulsive" comment makes it sound like you know me very well!
