How to use Headphones with C2500 Preamp?

I have a set of Audioquest Night Owl headphones coming later this week. This is only for very late night listening to put me to sleep as I often suffer from Insomnia. I want to have the amp muted, headphone jack energized, and the ability to adjust the volume on the headphones without the power amp unmuting on me. I have read the owners manual 6-7 times but I must be missing something. Can you help me?

Bob.......From the C2500 Owners Manual, page 25:

If the Front Panel MUTE Push-button is pressed for at least 4 seconds, the C2500 will mute the Audio at the OUTPUTS Connectors, however listening with headphones will resume. Refer to figure 79.

When the MUTE Push-Button is pressed a second time the OUTPUTS Connectors and Headphones are muted. Refer to figure 80.

When pressing the Mute Push-button again for 4 seconds, audio is available at all OUTPUT Connectors and the headphones.

I have a C2500 and an MC452, output #1 feeds the power amp, output #2 my subwoofers. When I use my headphones, I just de-select both outputs, when done listening to my cans, re-select them.

@jdandy.............

Thank you very much! It worked exactly as you said. The Audioquest Night Owl headphones arrived this afternoon. Great build quality and sound. However, I am quite annoyed that the cable is only a little over four feet long. I can’t use it as is. I need to get an extension cable. After all the fuss Audioquest makes about how great the cables that come with the headphones are, they don’t make an extension or longer cables. So disappointing as I need at least 6-7 feet of cable.
