Hope it was just a bad batch of ribbons..so far so good..6+months with no problems...in the first 2 years I think i went thru about 4 tweeters....lol

So it can be safely said these are not isolated cases. At one point we even ordered a pair of new tweeters not just the ribbons. What I have noticed is the glue color and the "pattern" of glueing isn't the same when comparing the old and new tweeters. Regardless, both have had failures in my case.

To add another data point to the mix, I received my speakers in March 2013 and never had a tweeter / ribbon failure.

After several months without having tweeters fail, I am thinking that the issue was likely a bad batch of ribbons. I played the 20.7 fairly loud in the past few days (let’s say that the fans in the m600 were going strong) with no issues. Boy the Maggies do sound good when driven hard!

How loud??:music I listen to mine - I think - at not big levels - so I wondered how many watts you are pushing?

Problem with non working panel

Hello,
I got 20.7 for new a few days ago, but unfortunately I wasn't fully satisfied with the bass spectrum : thin and dry, especially in very low frequencies (organ, symphonic orchestra...)
After suspecting a need for burn-in, after suspecting my amp, the prb turns to be that the bass rubbon of the right panel... doesn't speak at all.

I compared to the other panel, by standing behind while hearing low organ : with this one, I can hear very low frequencies, and they come from the side opposite to the tweeter.
On the other panel, this side is mute, except of a low humming even with no disc ! like an electrical buzz.
Have you ever experienced such a problem ? What is the technical issue ? What could be the easiest solution ?
In case there needs a fix, I hope that the Magnepan after-sales service will be helpful. Any testimony ?
